The Anna+Anton Olson Legacy Foundation (TAAOLF) was established to honor the lives of Anna and Anton Olson, Swedish pioneers and Texas farmers. For more information about their journey, go to the Foundation's website at https://taaolf.org.
TAAOLF supports an annual grant program, administered by the Central Texas Community Foundation (CTXCF), that provides philanthropic grants to strengthen the Georgetown, Hutto and Taylor communities through a life cycle of caring.
The Foundation continues to explore new, innovative ideas to maximize its grant program, including a growing focus on helping support emerging nonprofits to become stronger, more sustainable organizations in their community's future.
1. TAAOLF Grant Focus Areas
Greater consideration will be given to applications that combine multiple Focus Areas (Program and/or Community) into a single grant request.
Program Focus. All grant request must be specific to one or more of the Program Focus Areas described below:
- Give underserved children and youth more opportunities to grow and learn. Strengthen the ability of children and youth to live without abuse and neglect while providing education opportunities, nourishment and support that allows them the chance to become healthy and valuable members in our neighborhoods.
- Foster Entrepreneurship with youth and young adults in underserved areas. Strengthen the ability of children, youth, and young adults to understand the tangible and intangible lessons from working in the community, learning personal responsibility, hard work, customer service, self-confidence, financial literacy, and problem solving so they are better prepared to succeed as productive individuals in our communities.
- Provide Independence and Dignity to seniors living at home. Strengthen the ability of seniors in our neighborhoods to live at home safely, comfortably, and independently in their later years with dignity and as vital members of our communities.
Community Focus. All grant request must serve one or more of the communities listed below.
- Georgetown, Texas
- Hutto, Texas
- Taylor, Texas
2. Organizational Status
Nonprofits must be tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code and incorporated in the State of Texas.
3. Funding Requests
Nonprofits must decide whether to apply for funding for program support or general operating support. Both types of funding are eligible for a TAAOLF Grant Award, but an organization may only apply for one or the other.
- Program Support is funding for a specific program or project (new and/or existing) of a nonprofit. Funds can be used for any element of the program’s budget. Program Support grant awards will be between $5,000 and $20,000.
- General Operating Support is unrestricted funding. Nonprofits may use the funds for administrative purposes, to meet monthly obligations, to support programming, pay salaries, or to meet other organizational needs. General Operating Support grant awards will be between $5,000 and $10,000.
Nonprofits that have been funded during the previous grant cycle must wait one year before they are eligible to apply again. For example, if Nonprofit ABC was funded in 2022, they are not eligible to apply again until 2024.
If a nonprofit’s grant application is approved, funding may be awarded in an amount less than the original grant request.
4. Grant Reporting Requirements
Nonprofits that receive funding must submit a Grant Self-Evaluation Report no later than November 15, 2024.
